Thread Tales Unveiled: A Stylish Sojourn in Oxford
Q: What drives your design philosophy at Thread Tales?
Katherine: At Thread Tales, our design philosophy is rooted in creating pieces that stand the test of time. I believe in aspirational quality, designing garments that anyone, regardless of age or gender, would desire. Sustainability is also a key aspect—we blend art, craft, and culture with innovation and utility, all while minimising our impact on both people and the planet.
Q: Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
Katherine: Inspiration comes from various sources, but I'm particularly drawn to the textures and imperfections of the natural environment. Travel is also a huge source of inspiration, especially when I have the opportunity to work directly with talented artisans who contribute to Thread Tales' fabric creations. It's about honouring traditional techniques while infusing them with a classic style and handcrafted details or texture through a burst of colour via an artful ombré.
Q: What motivates you most about your work at Thread Tales?
Katherine: Our social impact is what truly drives me. Behind every handmade product, there's a person with dreams and ambitions. Strengthening these relationships and empowering artisans is at the core of what we do. It's about creating not just beautiful garments, but also meaningful connections.
Q: How would you describe your design style and material choices?
Katherine: I would describe my design style as updated classics that champion craftsmanship. We prioritize non-toxic, natural fibers to ensure our pieces have a luxurious feel and are made to last. It's all about investing in timeless pieces that work hard in your wardrobe and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Q: Can you tell us about the recent shoot in Oxford and the pieces featured?
Katherine:
Q: What do you hope people take away from Thread Tales' designs?
Katherine: Ultimately, I hope people see Thread Tales as more than just a fashion brand, rather a spirit of endeavour. I want our designs to tell a story of timeless designs, social responsibility, and conscious design. By embracing our pieces, I hope individuals feel empowered to make thoughtful choices that not only look good but also do good—for themselves and for the planet.
